Final Fantasy XIV Suspends Housing Demolitions Due to California Wildfires

Square Enix has temporarily halted automatic housing demolition timers in Final Fantasy XIV on North American servers. This action, affecting players on the Aether, Primal, Crystal, and Dynamis data centers, comes in response to the ongoing wildfires in Los Angeles. The company will announce a resumption date once the situation is assessed.

The automatic demolition system, designed to free up housing plots after 45 days of inactivity, is usually paused during significant real-world events to prevent hardship for players. Previous pauses have been implemented due to events like Hurricane Helene. This current suspension began just one day after the previous moratorium ended. Homeowners can still reset their timers by logging into their properties.

This decision follows a recent restart of the demolition timers, which were previously paused for an extended period. The impact of the wildfires extends beyond the game, with other events, such as a Critical Role campaign and an NFL playoff game, also affected.

The unexpected pause adds to a busy start to 2025 for Final Fantasy XIV players, who also recently benefited from a free login campaign. The duration of this housing demolition suspension remains undetermined.
