Remedy has officially announced that FBC: Firebreak, a thrilling new addition to the Control universe, will be released on June 17, 2025. This session-based, multiplayer PvE experience is designed to immerse players in replayable missions, known as Jobs, which offer unique challenges, objectives, and environments. Teamwork and adaptability are key as players navigate through these dynamic scenarios.
FBC: Firebreak will launch on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, as well as on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5, priced at $39.99 / €39.99 / £32.99. It will also be available from day one on PC Game Pass, Game Pass Ultimate, and the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog (Extra and Premium tiers). Notably, this marks Remedy's first venture into self-publishing.
In addition to the standard edition, Remedy has unveiled the FBC: Firebreak Deluxe Edition, priced at $49.99 / €49.99 / £39.99. This edition offers exclusive cosmetics and premium voice packs. Owners of the base game can upgrade to the Deluxe Edition for $10 / €10 / £7. The Deluxe Edition includes:
- “The Firestarter” Premium Voice Pack
- “The Pencil Pusher” Premium Voice Pack
- Firestarter Armor Set, Apex Revision (Helmet, Body Armor, Gloves)
- Scorched Remnant Double-Barrel Shotgun Skin
- Golden Firebreak Spray
- Classified Requisition: “Firestarter”: A collection of 36 unlockable cosmetic items including weapon skins, sprays, and armor sets
The game introduces a system called Requisitions, which rewards players with new gear and cosmetics simply by playing. Requisitions encompass weapons, equipment, armor, sprays, and more, all unlockable using in-game currency earned through gameplay. There are no limited-time windows or rotating stores; any item added to the game remains permanently available.
For those seeking additional customization, Classified Requisitions offer premium cosmetic items such as armor sets, custom voice packs, sprays, and weapon skins. These can be purchased with real money, but they are purely cosmetic and have no impact on gameplay. They, too, will remain available indefinitely.
Remedy has committed to ongoing support post-launch, with plans for two new Jobs (missions) to be introduced in 2025 and further updates in 2026. All new playable content, including Jobs, will be free for all players. Cosmetics can be purchased, but they won't affect gameplay, and there will be no limited-time rotations or daily log-in requirements, Remedy assures.
This release is part of a busy period for Remedy, the developers behind Alan Wake, as they are also working on Control 2 and the Max Payne and Max Payne 2 remake compilation.
