In a surprising turn of events, early gameplay footage of the highly anticipated next installment in the Fable series was unexpectedly revealed during the Official Xbox Podcast. The footage provided fans with a tantalizing glimpse into the game's world, showcasing a variety of locations, the combat system, different types of enemies, and even a snippet of a cutscene. Notably, the iconic chicken kick, a beloved feature from previous games, also made a return, much to the delight of long-time fans.

Earlier announcements from the head of Xbox Game Studios had confirmed a delay for Fable, pushing its release from 2025 to 2026. The reason given for this delay was the need for additional polish and refinement, a common requirement in game development to ensure a high-quality final product.

The reboot of this iconic series was first announced on July 23, 2020, sparking excitement among the gaming community. However, in the three years following the announcement, very little information was shared about the game's progress. It became evident that Fable was still in the early stages of development, which raised concerns among fans eager for updates.

The main developer, Playground Games, sought assistance from Eidos Montreal, indicating the complexity and scale of the project. The absence of polished gameplay footage for an extended period further highlighted the significant challenges the development team faced. Despite these hurdles, the recent reveal of gameplay footage offers hope that the game is moving forward, albeit with the need for more time to meet the high expectations set by the Fable franchise.
