DOOM launched on Apple's Lightning/HDMI adapter

The DOOM franchise's impressive adaptability continues to amaze. A recent feat showcases the game running on Apple's Lightning/HDMI adapter, a testament to the community's ingenuity. NyanSatan, the individual behind this achievement, leveraged the adapter's iOS-based firmware and 168 MHz processor to successfully run the classic DOOM. Due to the adapter's lack of internal memory, a MacBook was utilized for firmware transfer.

Regarding upcoming iterations, DOOM: The Dark Ages promises enhanced accessibility. Developers are focusing on extensive customization options, allowing players to adjust demon aggression, enemy damage, difficulty levels, projectile speed, and even the overall game tempo and parry timing. This level of customization surpasses that of previous id Software titles.

Executive producer Marty Stratton emphasized the game's accessibility, confirming that players can modify various aspects to suit their preferences. Furthermore, Stratton clarified that prior experience with DOOM: The Dark Ages isn't necessary to understand the storylines in either DOOM: The Dark Ages or DOOM: Eternal.
