NPC Studio's *Fields of Mistria* has garnered acclaim for its deeply crafted marriage candidates, engaging dialogue, and thoughtfully designed romance questlines. The burning question on many players' minds is whether you can date the current romance options in the game.
Can You Date Romance Options in Fields of Mistria?

As it stands, the short answer is no – at least not technically. However, having invested over 100 hours in trying to win over March, I can confidently say that the existing romance system in *Fields of Mistria* is still well worth your time and the $13.99 price tag on Steam.
With the game's first major update in November 2024, the heart cap was raised from four to six, and a new heart event was added for each romanceable NPC to celebrate relationship milestones. These events unlock at even intervals, featuring playable cutscenes at two, four, and six hearts. NPC Studio has plans to introduce eight- and ten-heart events in future updates, but no specific dates or details have been released beyond the upcoming March 2025 update, which will not include an increased heart level cap or new heart events.

While the idea of taking on more quests around Mistria is thrilling, new players might be disappointed by the current halt in romance development. Yet, *Fields of Mistria's* romance system is stellar in its current form, largely due to the game's rich and realistic dialogue, which skillfully flirts when it comes to romance options.
The existing heart events are also noteworthy. Although early cutscenes can be interpreted as strictly platonic, their ambiguity allows for romantic readings, especially in setting, making your budding romantic relationships feel increasingly deep as you progress. This pacing makes the romantic journey in *Fields of Mistria* exceptionally rewarding, even if you can't go on an official date.

New players shouldn't dismiss *Fields of Mistria* just because you can't technically date. The last major update introduced the Shooting Star Festival, a summer event that lets you initiate a date-like experience with eligible NPCs, provided you have four hearts with them. Currently, you can spend the evening stargazing with Caldarus, though this doesn't trigger a date at the Summit location as it does with other romance options. This might change with the game's March 2025 update, which aims to unlock the dragon's romance questline.
For now, you might not be able to make your relationship official with dateable NPCs in *Fields of Mistria*, but there's plenty to keep players engaged until the dating feature is fully implemented.
