Dataminer Finds Hara-Kiri Animations in Mortal Kombat 1, May Become Quitalities

Exciting news for fans of the gory fighting game series, Mortal Kombat! A dataminer known as InfiniteNightZ has uncovered what appears to be strong evidence suggesting that Mortal Kombat 1 may introduce Hara-Kiri Fatalities in the form of Quitalities. For those unfamiliar, Hara-Kiri finishers, first seen in Mortal Kombat: Deception back in 2004, allow the defeated player to perform a self-Fatality, adding a dramatic twist to the end of a match.

InfiniteNightZ shared a video showcasing these Hara-Kiri animations, which notably include recently added DLC characters like Ghostface. This discovery lends weight to the speculation that these animations could be integrated into Mortal Kombat 1 through a future update. "After seeing that they're adding it to the downloaded roster now, I think it's highly possible," InfiniteNightZ commented, expressing optimism about the feature's inclusion.

The dataminer also pointed out that these animations are referenced as Quitalities within the game's code. Quitalities are swift finishers that activate when a player exits a multiplayer match prematurely, a feature seen in previous Mortal Kombat titles. "They are listed as Quitalities, there's still hope," InfiniteNightZ added, hinting at the potential for these animations to be implemented in this manner.

Following InfiniteNightZ's findings, another well-known Mortal Kombat 1 dataminer, Interloko, discovered additional Hara-Kiri animations. Interloko shared, "Thanks @MatthewDim40523 for tagging me. Here are another 2 missing from the video, so looks like only Omniman and Conan doesn't have one." Interloko, however, mentioned being preoccupied with their own game demo and did not attempt to trigger these animations in Mortal Kombat 1.

It's important to note that neither NetherRealm Studios nor Warner Bros. Games has officially announced the addition of Quitalities to Mortal Kombat 1. While this discovery is intriguing, it remains speculative until confirmed by the developers.

Mortal Kombat 1 has recently seen a surge in popularity with the introduction of a secret fight against Floyd, the pink ninja, sparking community efforts to unlock this hidden content. Additionally, fans have the T-1000 guest character to anticipate, along with potential future DLC, though NetherRealm has yet to confirm any further additions.
