Shin Chan: Shiro and the Coal Town is now available on Android through the Crunchyroll Game Vault. This slice-of-life adventure was first released in Japan for the Nintendo Switch in February 2024, followed by a worldwide launch on Switch and PC in October 2024. Now, it's finally here for mobile devices.
Shin Chan: Shiro & Coal Town Is a Mysterious Anime Adventure
The story begins as the Nohara family moves to a tranquil village in Akita Prefecture after Hiroshi lands a job near his hometown. They rent a traditional Japanese farmhouse and adapt to the quiet rhythms of rural life.
Early in the game, Shinnosuke (also known as Shin Chan) discovers the simple joys of the countryside with his grandfather, Ginnosuke. Your days will be filled with fishing in Akita’s rivers, catching bugs in the groves, and learning farming techniques from your grandmother.
One day, the family dog, Shiro, suddenly appears covered in black soot and then dashes away. Shin Chan chases after him and stumbles upon a mysterious train that wasn't there before. A single, unexpected ride transports him straight to the enigmatic Coal Town.

Coal Town feels like it’s been frozen since the Showa era
In Coal Town, you'll encounter a bustling atmosphere filled with hardworking residents, retro aesthetics, and new activities to try. The vibe here is completely different from the peaceful countryside. You’ll find a children’s park, a diner, various shops and restaurants, and an apartment building. While some locations are interactive, others simply form part of the detailed scenery.
It’s here that you meet Yuri, a young inventor who asks for your help gathering materials for her experiments. She aims to improve life for the local community. But then her older brother, Chuck, appears. He attempts to implement a so-called "waste-free" system that ends up causing chaos for everyone. Your mission becomes helping Yuri stop Chuck and restore harmony to Coal Town.
