Tentacle Tactics

Nu Udra presents a formidable challenge in Monster Hunter Wilds. Its massive tentacles grant it an extensive reach, making evasion tricky. However, these same tentacles offer melee fighters their closest attack points. Severing its arms yields valuable materials, but proceed with caution—these limbs pack a powerful punch.

Target the Maw

Ranged weapon users have more options, but the mouth remains the prime target. Nu Udra's predominantly black hide makes the mouth difficult to spot initially. Despite this, its 4-star weakness makes it a high-priority target. The head, while only possessing a 3-star weakness to ammo damage, remains a viable option for blunt and cut damage.

Harness the Power of Watermoss

Nu Udra boasts a fire affinity. Beyond its physical attacks, it unleashes fiery assaults, even engulfing itself in flames, inflicting the dangerous Fireblight debuff. Strategic use of Watermoss is highly recommended to mitigate this threat and allow for safer attacks.

Embrace Fire Resistance

Struggling against the Black Flame? Equipping fire-resistant gear is crucial. The Quematrice armor set, with its Fire Resistance skill, is a strong recommendation. Fire Res Jewels and Stream Jewels (for increased Water Attack) are excellent choices for further damage reduction and offensive boosts.

Evade the Grasp

Nu Udra's arsenal includes several dangerous moves, but its grab attack is particularly menacing. If caught too close, it will ensnare you with its tentacles, followed by a fiery blast. Swiftly use a knife to break free, or leverage your Slinger to attack its weak point during the brief pause.

To capture Nu Udra, prepare either a Pitfall or Shock Trap. However, deployment requires weakening the monster to near-death; look for the skull icon beside the boss icon to determine the optimal moment. While meat can lure it into the trap, simply running behind it while it targets you is often effective. Once trapped, swiftly use a Tranquilizer; you have roughly five seconds before it breaks free.

This comprehensive guide covers defeating and capturing Nu Udra in Monster Hunter Wilds. This hunt is challenging solo; consider utilizing multiplayer for a smoother experience.

Monster Hunter Wilds is available now on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
