Xu Wu Details:

  • Known Habitats: Wyveria
  • Breakable Parts: Head, Mouth, and Arm
  • Recommended Elemental Attack: Ice
  • Effective Status Effects: Poison (3x), Sleep (1x), Paralysis (2x), Blastblight (2x), Stun (2x), Exhaust (2x)
  • Effective Items: Pitfall Trap, Shock Trap

Maintaining Your Guard

Xu Wu's agility is its defining characteristic. Its dark coloration and unusual form make predicting its movements challenging. Adding to the difficulty, it can vanish into walls, reappearing from the ceiling to ambush you—a tactic limited to its nest. Stay vigilant, especially in this area.

Harness the Power of Ice

Xu Wu's weakness to Ice is your greatest advantage. Utilize Ice ammo with ranged weapons, or equip gear that inflicts Ice elemental damage with melee weapons. The Frost Jewel decoration, providing the Ice Attack skill, is highly recommended. Frost Pods offer a handy supplementary Ice damage option.

Avoiding the Grappling Threat

Xu Wu employs a powerful grab attack that disables your weapons. You have approximately two seconds to escape. The slinger is your best bet, with Frost Pods proving particularly effective in breaking free.

Strategic Targeting: Mouth and Head

While its mouth, located underneath, is Xu Wu's weakest point, it's only exposed during dive attacks. Landing a powerful hit during this brief window inflicts substantial damage and may even break the mouth, yielding Xu Wu's fang.

If a mouth attack isn't feasible, focus on its head. This area boasts a 4-star weakness to blunt and cut damage, and a 3-star weakness to ammo damage.

Exploiting Poison's Weakness

Xu Wu has a 3-star weakness to Poison. Bows, with their Poison Coating, are particularly effective at inflicting this status ailment. While other status effects can be useful, avoid Sleep, as it's largely ineffective.

Once Xu Wu's health drops to 20%, set a Pitfall or Shock Trap. Lure it in using meat or even yourself as bait. Quickly fire a tranquilizer to secure the capture before it escapes the trap. Time is of the essence!

Mastering the hunt for Xu Wu requires patience, precision, and a keen awareness of its erratic movements. Remember to manage your stamina carefully.
