*Avowed* expands the rich Fantasy universe of Eora, first introduced in the *Pillars of Eternity* series. Although the game features a variety of Kith races, your choices in the character creator are somewhat limited. Below is a comprehensive guide to all the playable races you can select in *Avowed*.
Humans (Known In-Universe as Folk)
Humans, referred to as Folk in *Avowed*, are the most common race both in the game world and within the character creator. As part of the broader Kith group, Humans represent a significant portion of sentient, civilized life in Eora.
The character customization for Humans in *Avowed* is extensive, designed to cater to a wide range of player preferences. You'll find numerous presets alongside detailed customization options, including a variety of facial features, a skin tone slider, and diverse hair textures. These tools allow most players to craft a character that closely mirrors their own image.
Elves
Elves are another race available for selection in *Avowed*. While they closely resemble Humans, Elves stand out with their distinct facial structures and iconic long, pointed ears.
Godlikes
There is also a third option for players in *Avowed*—the Godlikes. All Envoys in the game's story are Godlike, but players have the choice to display or conceal these distinctive features. Godlikes come with unique hair and facial features, ranging from subtle to surreal. At the game's launch, you can choose from 14 different Godlike facial features and four distinct Godlike hair styles. These options are universally available, regardless of the chosen race or body type.
What Gender Options are Available in the Avowed Character Creator?
In *Avowed*, players have the option to select from four Body Types: two masculine and two feminine, applicable to both Humans and Elves. Additionally, there are two voice options for each body type—masculine and feminine. Players can also choose their character’s pronouns, with options for he, she, or they, ensuring a personalized experience.
Several Races Present in Avowed Are Not Playable
Unfortunately, not all races present in *Avowed* are available for player customization. While you'll encounter NPCs representing Dwarves, the semiaquatic Aumaua, and the diminutive, hairy Orlans throughout the Living Lands, these races are not options in the character creator. However, there remains the possibility that Obsidian Entertainment might introduce additional race options in future updates or DLC for *Avowed*.
