Nickelodeon and Avatar Studios unveil a new Avatar animated series: Avatar: Seven Havens. This exciting announcement coincides with the franchise's 20th anniversary, marking a significant expansion of the beloved Avatar universe.
Created by Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, the original series creators, Seven Havens will be a 26-episode, 2D animated series. The story centers on a young Earthbender, the next Avatar after Korra, navigating a world ravaged by a cataclysmic event. Unlike previous Avatars, this new Avatar is viewed as a harbinger of destruction rather than salvation, forcing her and her estranged twin to confront their mysterious past and protect the remaining havens of civilization.
In a press release, Nickelodeon described Seven Havens as a tale brimming with fantasy and mystery, introducing a fresh ensemble of characters. DiMartino and Konietzko expressed their surprise and delight at continuing to expand the Avatar world after two decades. The series will be structured into two 13-episode seasons, "Book 1" and "Book 2," with executive producers Ethan Spaulding and Sehaj Sethi joining the original creators. Casting details are yet to be revealed.
This marks the first major television series from Avatar Studios, who are also producing a feature-length animated film focusing on a grown-up Aang. This movie is slated for a theatrical release on January 30, 2026, promising a new chapter in Aang's story.
The 20th-anniversary celebration extends beyond Seven Havens, encompassing a range of new merchandise, including books, comics, concerts, toys, and even a Roblox game.
