The Battle of Polytopia has introduced an exciting new feature with the launch of Weekly Challenges, adding a fresh competitive edge to the beloved 4X strategy game. If you're eager to sharpen your skills and compete on a level playing field, this update is for you. Let's dive into the details.
Previously, the game's randomness, from varying enemies and resources to different maps, kept players on their toes. However, with the latest free update, the competition takes on a more structured form.
It Was Random Before
Every week, players now face the same map, tribe, and gameplay conditions, leveling the playing field. The challenge? Achieve the highest possible score within 20 turns. You can make one attempt per day, allowing for a maximum of seven tries each week.
One of the most exciting aspects of the Weekly Challenges is the opportunity to play as tribes you might not yet own. The Battle of Polytopia features 16 tribes in total—four are included in the base game, while the other twelve can be purchased for $1-4 each. In the Weekly Challenges, however, everyone gets to compete with the same tribe, regardless of ownership.
Will Weekly Challenges Make The Battle of Polytopia More Exciting?
Absolutely, and here's why. The introduction of a League system adds another layer of competition. Everyone starts in the Entry League, and your performance each week determines whether you move up or down. The top third of players advance, the bottom third drop a league, and the middle group remains in place.
As you progress through the leagues, the difficulty ramps up. In the Entry League, you'll face Easy AI, but by the time you reach the Gold League, you'll be up against Crazy difficulty bots. And don't worry if you miss a week; you won't be demoted, but your ranking will shift based on other players' performances.
