Sydney Sweeney has been confirmed to lead the cast in the upcoming film adaptation of Hazelight's hit game Split Fiction.
Last month, reports surfaced about a movie based on Hazelight's critically acclaimed game entering development. Story Kitchen, known for successful video game adaptations like Sonic, was reportedly assembling a creative team including writers, director, and cast.
Variety now reveals that Split Fiction's production is gaining momentum, with Madame Web actress Sydney Sweeney officially attached to star. Jon M. Chu, director of Wicked, has been tapped to helm the project, while Deadpool & Wolverine scribes Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick penned the script. Industry insiders suggest Story Kitchen is currently pitching this high-profile package to major Hollywood studios, anticipating intense bidding interest.
Fans are eagerly speculating which twin protagonist Sweeney will portray - Zoe or Mio. Variety reports this casting decision remains undetermined.

Despite launching just this March, Split Fiction has become another commercial triumph for Hazelight and creator Josef Fares, surpassing 2 million copies sold within its first week. The game is also confirmed as a launch title for Nintendo's upcoming Switch 2 console.
IGN awarded Split Fiction a stellar 9/10 review score, praising it as: "A masterfully designed cooperative experience that seamlessly blends multiple genres, Split Fiction delivers an exhilarating gameplay journey with consistently inventive mechanics that prove incredibly addictive."
This project joins Hazelight's other major adaptation currently in development - a film version of their breakout hit It Takes Two (23 million copies sold), potentially starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.
While there's no guarantee these Hazelight adaptations will reach fruition, Hollywood's current enthusiasm for successful video game-to-film translations suggests strong industry confidence.
Story Kitchen continues expanding its adaptation slate, announcing last year plans for Square Enix's Just Cause movie with Blue Beetle director Ángel Manuel Soto. The company also has Dredge: The Movie, Kingmakers, and Sleeping Dogs adaptations in development, plus an unconventional live-action Toys 'R' Us film.
Meanwhile, Hazelight has already begun teasing its next original game project while these Hollywood adaptations progress.
