Pedro Pascal, renowned for his roles in acclaimed series like The Last of Us, The Mandalorian, and The Fantastic Four: First Steps, has publicly criticized JK Rowling, the author of the Harry Potter series, over her recent comments against the transgender community.
The controversy arose following a UK Supreme Court decision that legally defined "woman" as "a biological woman and biological sex" for equality legislation purposes, thereby excluding transgender women from protections under the Equality Act. Rowling celebrated this ruling on Twitter/X with a photo of herself smoking a cigar and drinking by the ocean, captioned, "I love it when a plan comes together," referencing her financial support for the organization, For Scotland Women, which filed the suit.
In response, writer and activist Tariq Raouf posted a video on April 17 condemning Rowling's stance. Raouf labeled her actions as "serious Voldemort villain sht" and encouraged viewers to boycott anything related to Harry Potter. Pascal, a staunch ally of the transgender community, replied to Raouf's video, stating, "Awful disgusting SHT is exactly right. Heinous LOSER behavior."

Pascal's support for transgender rights is well-documented. He has previously shared sentiments like, "I can’t think of anything more vile and small and pathetic than terrorizing the smallest, most vulnerable community of people who want nothing from you, except the right to exist," accompanied by a photo of a sign reading, "A world without trans people has never existed and never will." Additionally, he showed solidarity by wearing a "Protect the dolls" shirt at the London premiere of Thunderbolts, a phrase used in LGBTQIA+ circles to refer to trans women.
His advocacy is deeply personal; his sister, Lux Pascal, is a transgender woman who came out in 2021. Pedro expressed his support for her on social media, posting, "Mi hermana, mi corazón, nuestra Lux," which translates to "My sister, my heart, our Lux."
