"Oblivion Remastered Keeps Iconic Line Flub"

Authore: AriaUpdate:May 27,2025

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered brings new life to one of Bethesda's landmark titles with enhanced visuals and gameplay, yet the team at Virtuos chose to preserve one of the original game's most cherished quirks.

Long-time fans of The Elder Scrolls series will fondly recall Master Speechcraft trainer Tandilwe, a High Elf residing in the Temple of the One within the Imperial City. When Oblivion first debuted on PC and Xbox 360 over 19 years ago, it became evident that Tandilwe's speech skills needed some work. One of her lines featured an amusing blooper, believed to be actress Linda Kenyon's second attempt at the dialogue that was accidentally included in the final game.

As players embarked on their journey through a revitalized Cyrodiil starting yesterday, many were eager to assess the fidelity of this ground-up remaster. While numerous environments, character models, and items have been revamped, fans have been delighted to discover that many of the original game's charming imperfections remain. Tandilwe's now-legendary blooper, complete with its lack of subtitles, has returned, much to the delight of the community.

In a 2019 interview with YouTube channel Jake 'The Voice' Parr, Linda Kenyon, upon learning about the infamous blooper, humorously defended herself, stating, "It wasn't my fault!"

While thousands of players dive into Oblivion Remastered, debates swirl about whether the Bethesda re-release leans more towards a remake than a remaster. However, many are simply pleased to see that much of the original game's endearing quirks have been preserved. Both Bethesda and Virtuos made a concerted effort to retain these elements, and the reception from both new and veteran players has been overwhelmingly positive.
