After years of speculation, the long-awaited details of Nintendo's upgraded console, the Nintendo Switch 2, have been revealed, and the specifications are more impressive than many anticipated. In a detailed segment during today's Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, Nintendo unveiled several key features of the new system. The Nintendo Switch 2 boasts a larger 7.9-inch built-in screen, maintaining the same thickness of 13.9mm as its predecessor but with double the pixels. This upgrade supports a 1080p resolution at up to 120fps in handheld mode and features an LCD screen with HDR capabilities. When docked, the console can handle up to 4K resolution with HDR.The new Joy-Con 2 controllers are now connected via magnets and can be detached using a release button on the back. The SL and SR buttons on the sides have been enlarged for better horizontal play, and the left and right sticks are also larger. Additionally, the segment confirmed the introduction of mouse control support within the Joy-Con controllers.
The handheld version of the Nintendo Switch 2 includes a built-in microphone with noise-canceling technology and 3D audio support for compatible games. It also features a more robust and adjustable stand compared to the original Switch, allowing for different viewing heights. A top USB port has been added, which can be used for external camera connectivity or to charge the system while in tabletop mode.
