Insider Daniel Richtman has sparked excitement by claiming that not only is the next installment in development, but actors have already been cast, and some scenes have been filmed.

Given the ambiguous statement from Naughty Dog's director, these rumors might carry some weight. When Druckmann mentioned there would be "no next *The Last of Us*," he could have been alluding to a sequel already in the works. Moreover, he's made similar statements in the past, right before announcing *The Last of Us Part II*. However, it's worth noting that Richtman has a history of both accurate and inaccurate leaks.
