League of Legends Hextech Chest Brought Back After Fan Feedback

League of Legends is set to reintroduce Hextech Chests following substantial fan feedback. Dive in to discover more about the upcoming update and what's on the horizon for LoL.

League of Legends Reverses Unpopular Changes

Hextech Chests Make a Return

League of Legends (LoL) is bringing back Hextech Chests in response to player feedback. On February 27, 2025, Riot Games shared a developer update on their official website and released a corresponding video on their YouTube channel.

LoL admitted that recent changes had not met player expectations, stating, "Recently, we’ve made a number of changes that didn’t hit the mark for everyone. We’ve been listening to your feedback, and it’s clear that there are areas where we need to adjust."

One of the most requested reversals was the return of Hextech Chests. LoL recognized, "It’s clear that for many of you, Hextech Chests weren’t just a way to get stuff, they were an important part of making your time in League feel rewarding. We didn’t fully grasp how much this mattered to you, and that led us to make changes that missed the mark."

Starting with patch 25.05, Hextech Chests will return, allowing players to earn up to 10 chests and keys per act. Eight of these chests will be available through the free pass, while the remaining two can be obtained via the Honor system.

Exalted Mordekaiser Delayed and Additional Fan Feedback Changes

Riot Games has also announced a delay for the upcoming Exalted Mordekaiser skin, as the team aims to "take more time to make sure it better delivers on its core fantasy." Consequently, the entire Exalted skin line will be delayed, meaning fans won't see a new skin every Act this year as originally planned.

In response to further fan feedback, LoL will "be replacing one of the non-Prestige skins with 25 Mythic Essence, given we’ve seen clear feedback that there’s both a lack of Mythic Essence on the paid Pass and that we’ve been doing more champions for each seasonal theme than makes sense."

LoL is also committed to improving champion accessibility. Following discussions about blue essence and champion shards, the game will "be lowering the Blue Essence cost for all champions by 50% as of patch 25.05."

Another change involves Clash, which was previously slated to run less frequently. Now, LoL has reinstated Clash's monthly schedule, announcing, "March’s Clash event will be ARURF, then we’ll run a regular SR Clash in April."

Blue Essence Emporium and Your Shop Return

In response to community requests, LoL is bringing back popular in-game shops. Your Shop and the Blue Essence Emporium will make their first appearances this year, with Your Shop scheduled for patch 25.06 and the Emporium for 25.07.

Riot Games emphasized, "We know getting League to the right place isn’t about just one set of changes. It’s about continually refining and improving the game in ways that make it better. We think today’s updates are an important step, and we’ll keep tracking how these changes feel, talking with all of you about how things are landing, and making adjustments."

With these recent updates, Riot Games demonstrates a commitment to listening to their community and adapting the game to meet player expectations. League of Legends remains available as a free-to-play title on PC. For the latest updates and information, be sure to visit our League of Legends page.
