Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail's Patch 7.0 Preview: New Jobs, Graphics, and More
With Dawntrail's early access launch imminent, Square Enix has unveiled preliminary patch notes for version 7.0, offering a glimpse into the expansive updates awaiting Final Fantasy XIV players. The notes highlight the locations for new job quests (Viper and Pictomancer), significant system changes, and more.
Dawntrail, the fifth expansion to the acclaimed MMORPG, marks the beginning of a new saga following Endwalker. It also introduces the game's first major graphical overhaul since A Realm Reborn. Players will journey to the western continent of Tural, embroiled in a succession rite, joining forces with Hrothgar Wuk Lamat, a candidate for Dawnservant. Square Enix urges players to be mindful of story spoilers on social media.
While details on the main story remain scarce, the notes tease future additions: the Arcadion raid series and the Cenote Ja Ja Gural treasure dungeon. A level 1 quest for a free Fantasia potion will be available in Ul'dah – Steps of Thal (X:13.4, Y:9.2). The locations for Dawntrail role quests (requiring main story progress) and the Viper and Pictomancer job quests are also revealed: a Worried Weaver in Ul'dah – Steps of Nald (X:9.3, Y:9.2) and a Cheerless Hearer in Old Gridania (X:8.0, Y:10.3), respectively.
Key Highlights from Patch 7.0:
- Arcadion raid and Cenote Ja Ja Gural treasure dungeon (future updates)
- Free Fantasia potion quest in Ul'dah
- Viper and Pictomancer job quest locations revealed
- New craftable items, including housing exteriors and furnishings
- Graphical enhancements: AMD FSR and Nvidia DLSS support, in-game framerate cap
To mitigate server congestion, temporary data center travel restrictions (2-4 weeks) will be implemented. The graphical update also includes support for AMD FSR and Nvidia DLSS, along with the ability to cap the frame rate.
With Dawntrail's impending release, players are poised for countless hours of new content. The race is on to see who conquers the expansion's storyline first!
