Forza Horizon 4: Digital Stores to Remove Game and DLC in 2024
Get ready to say goodbye to Forza Horizon 4 on digital storefronts. Microsoft has announced the game will be delisted from the Microsoft Store, Steam, and Xbox Game Pass on December 15, 2024. This means no new purchases of the game or its additional content will be possible after that date.
Released in 2018, Forza Horizon 4 enjoyed immense popularity, boasting over 24 million players by November 2020. Set in a fictionalized UK, it's widely considered a top-tier open-world driving game. However, expiring licenses for in-game content necessitate its removal.
While initially denying delisting plans, Playground Games now confirms the end of the line. DLC purchases will cease even earlier, on June 25, 2024. Only the standard, deluxe, and ultimate editions will remain available for purchase between then and the December delisting.
Forza Horizon 4's Final Series and Post-Delisting Access
The final in-game series, Series 77, will run from July 25 to August 22. Following this, the playlist screen will become inaccessible, but players can still enjoy daily/weekly challenges and Forzathon Live events via the Forza Events screen.
Existing owners—digital or physical—can continue playing without interruption. Game Pass subscribers with active, fully paid subscriptions who own DLC will receive a game token to maintain access.
Discounts and Farewell
The delisting is due to expiring licenses for cars and music, a common issue for racing games. This follows the previous removal of Forza Horizon 3. To mark the occasion, Steam is currently offering an 80% discount, with an Xbox Store sale planned for August 14. Take advantage of this opportunity to add this acclaimed title to your collection before it's gone.
