The developers of The Witcher 3 planned to include Triss's wedding in the game

In the Witcher 3's "Ashen Marriage" quest, set in Novigrad, Geralt assists Triss Merigold and her fiancé, Castello, with wedding preparations. His tasks include monster extermination, procuring alcohol, and selecting a wedding gift for Triss. The gift's significance impacts Triss's response; a memory rose, a callback to Witcher 2, evokes a strong emotional reaction, unlike more mundane presents.

However, a plot twist emerges when Dijkstra reveals Castello's connection to witch hunters, casting doubt on his intentions. Castello's actions are revealed to stem from blackmail – the hunters threaten to expose his illegitimate daughter from a previous marriage.

Geralt can choose to disclose this information to Triss, either alone or with Castello. Regardless, the wedding is called off. Triss is either disappointed or appreciative of Castello's honesty, but concludes the marriage was premature.

This unexpected turn could have enriched Geralt and Triss's dynamic and further developed supporting characters.
