Beginner’s Guide for Dead Sails

As the captain of a ship, your mission is to sail a straight line for 10 thousand meters between towns, with the ultimate goal of reaching 100k meters. Keep moving, maintain your fuel supply, and stay alive. Sounds easy, right?

Before You Set Sail

The in-game lobby before you start a round is invaluable, albeit at a cost. New players start with 15 Dabloons, the game's currency. While it's tempting to splurge on boats or items like bandages and weapons, you'll find plenty of these in-game. Save your Dabloons for more strategic purchases.

How To Choose A Class

These perks are acquired through a loot box system, costing 3 Dabloons per attempt. You might get a class you like on your first try, or it may take a few goes. Common and Uncommon classes like Pirate and Gunslinger are great choices, but your selection should align with your playstyle. For a detailed breakdown, check out our Dead Sails Class Tierlist.

What To Do In Towns

  • Trading Hut: Sell collected items.
  • General Store: Stock up on essentials.
  • Hospital: Heal yourself.
  • Gun Shop: Purchase guns and ammunition.
  • Sheriff’s: Earn bounty money from pirate and creature corpses.

You begin with a blunt weapon, so there's no rush to buy a firearm. Instead, prioritize buying coal; spend all your money on as much as you can. Fuel is crucial in Dead Sails—the game ends if your ship can't move.

Dead Sails Tips & Tricks

The gameplay is simple, but you'll encounter various buildings, structures, and undead creatures along your journey. Here's what you need to know to master the game.

Tips For Never Running Out Of Fuel

Collectible items with a "fuel" marker provide a 5% boost. However, the most efficient way to fuel up is by using the corpses of the undead. Kill attackers not only to survive but also to gather their bodies for fuel.

How To Survive The Night

Ideally, spend the night in town for safety. Otherwise, buy Barbed Wire from a shop to mount on your ship, preventing mobs from getting close. Without Barbed Wire, pause your journey and attack any approaching creatures.

Which Weapon To Choose

A shotgun is ideal due to its high damage output, perfect for unexpected combat situations. For beginners, a revolver is a good early-game choice, often found in buildings and easier to handle.

Best Items To Collect

  • Moyai and Bars: Available in diamond, gold, and silver; great for earning money.
  • Healing Packs: Keep them for emergencies rather than selling.
  • Crosses: Sell for 35 cash or use against the undead.
  • Weapons: Use or sell depending on your needs.
  • Robot Head: Found in houses and banks, sells for 45 cash.
  • Holy Water: Found in churches, sells for 25 cash.
  • Gold Llama: Rare and expensive, sells for 150 cash.

Remember, you can stack items on your boat, but they'll fall off if not welded. Place an item and press the weld button (Z on the keyboard) to secure it.
