The *Assassin’s Creed* series has long been celebrated for its deep dives into historical settings, and with *Assassin’s Creed Shadows*, Ubisoft aims to further enrich the experience by transporting players to 16th Century Japan. A key feature enhancing this immersion is the game's Immersive Mode. Here’s a comprehensive look at what it offers and whether it's worth enabling.

What Does Immersive Mode Do in Assassin’s Creed Shadows?

Traditionally, *Assassin’s Creed* games feature modernized dialogue, with characters rarely speaking in their native languages. *Assassin’s Creed Shadows* follows this trend to a degree, but Immersive Mode introduces a significant shift. When activated, this mode locks the game's voiceover to Japanese, providing a more authentic experience. Additionally, you'll hear Portuguese dialogue in interactions involving the Jesuits and Yasuke, reflecting historical accuracy. This feature aims to deepen the immersion by having characters speak in the languages they would have used during that era, enhancing the game’s historical authenticity.

Should You Turn On Immersive Mode in Assassin’s Creed Shadows?

The primary drawback of using Immersive Mode is missing out on the performances by the main English voice cast. However, the Japanese and Portuguese voice actors bring equally compelling performances to the game. *Assassin’s Creed Shadows* also offers extensive subtitle options, allowing you to follow the dialogue in your preferred language. Immersive Mode can be toggled on or off at any time through the audio settings menu, with changes taking effect after reloading your last save. Unlike Canon Mode, this setting doesn't lock you into a choice for the entire playthrough, giving you the flexibility to experiment.

If you're seeking the most authentic experience possible, Immersive Mode is an excellent choice to truly transport yourself back to 16th Century Japan. We hope to see this feature continue in future *Assassin’s Creed* titles. *Assassin’s Creed Shadows* is now available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
