Jason Isaacs suggère un acteur inattendu pour Lucius Malfoy dans la série Harry Potter de HBO

Alors que la Thaïlande est certainement loin des salles magiques de Poudlard, Jason Isaacs, connu pour son rôle de Lucius Malfoy dans les films Harry Potter et avec actuellement dans la saison 3 de White Lotus, a partagé sa perspective unique sur qui devrait entrer dans ses chaussures emblématiques pour la prochaine série télévisée Harry Potter de HBO. Dans une récente interview avec Variety, Isaacs n'a suggéré que Meryl Streep pour le rôle. "Elle peut tout faire, cette femme. Il n'y a littéralement aucune limite à ce qu'elle peut faire", a-t-il fait remarquer, soulignant la polyvalence de Streep. Notamment, Streep a déjà assumé des rôles masculins, notamment un rabbin masculin âgé dans l'adaptation de la mini-série HBO des Play Angels en Amérique, présentant sa capacité à se transformer en personnages divers.

Malgré sa recommandation, Isaacs a déclaré avec humour qu'il n'avait aucun conseil à Streep ou à tout autre acteur qui pourrait jouer le rôle de Lucius Malfoy. "Je n'aurais aucun conseil. Pourquoi je me dérangerais?" Il a plaisanté, exprimant sa confiance dans le nouveau casting. "Je connais certaines des personnes qu'ils jettent déjà. Ce sont des acteurs brillants. Ça va être fantastique, et la dernière chose dont ils ont besoin, ce sont les conseils d'un vieux pet comme moi."

Isaacs a donné vie à Lucius Malfoy pour la première fois dans le deuxième film de Harry Potter, Harry Potter et la Chambre des secrets, et a continué à dépeindre le personnage jusqu'au film final, Harry Potter et les liaisons de la mort partie 2. Quant à la prochaine adaptation télévisée, un seul casting a été confirmé à l'époque de cette écriture: John Lithgow prendra le rôle d'Albus de Gambon.

Les rumeurs tourbillonnent sur d'autres pièces moulées potentielles. La star de Black Mirror Paapa Essiedu serait dans des discussions pour jouer à Severus Snape, à l'origine décrite par Alan Rickman, tandis que l'actrice de Jessica Jones, Janet McTeer, serait sur le point d'être interprétée comme Minerva McGonagall, un rôle joué par Maggie Smith. Cependant, ces choix de casting n'ont pas encore été officiellement confirmés.
