How to Become a Shinigami in Hollow Era
Initially, you're a Soul Spirit. To become a Shinigami, accept the first quest from the NPC, Hurt Shinigami. This is a one-way street; choosing Shinigami prevents you from playing as a Hollow, unless you later become a Visored (explained below). If you prefer the Hollow path, see our Hollow progression guide.
The Shinigami/Hollow choice requires quick action. To become a Hollow, break your chain. If you choose Shinigami, the chain breaks slowly (one section every two minutes). If you wait too long, it breaks automatically, making you a Hollow. In that case, our resurrection moves list for Hollows will be your endgame.
Hollow Era Shinigami Quests Guide
Your first quest: purify 6 Lost Souls. Shinigami purify Lost Souls and defeat Hollows to maintain balance. Next, deliver a letter to a doctor near the hospital (from the NPC near Hurt Shinigami).
This early stage is perfect for learning your powers. Get a $1000 random power sword from a Urakara shop. For faster travel across the large map, consider the $200 bus stop teleport, or the 149 Robux infinite fast travel option in the Robux Shop.
Further quests (marked by a red crosshair) involve defeating Hollows and Corrupted Shinigami, leading to level 15. Quests include repeatable tasks, progression quests, and those related to paths like Vizard and Airwalk.
Full Soul Reaper Skill Tree and Reiatsu
Strategic skill point investment maximizes your Reiatsu. The Reiatsu Skill Tree offers Kido abilities (unique to Shinigami):
- Caja Negacion: Lightning beam. Combine with Electric for area effect.
- Shakkaho: Explosive energy ball. Ragdoll adds knockback; Fire adds burning.
- Chain Bind: Energy chains pull enemies closer.
- Prison of Light: Immobilizes enemies with light rods.
- Thunder Sear: Slow-moving lightning ball that explodes on contact.
How to Get Shikai in Hollow Era
Reach level 15 and visit Urihiro for the Shikai Training quest (level 15+). Defeat Urahara Kisuke (1700 exp reward) to unlock Shikai powers.
Note: Level 15 might be challenging. Consider grinding to level 25+ for an easier fight. Unlocking Shikai grants a random powerful ability to your weapon; re-roll it at the Urahara Shop if needed. Use Shikai (Y key) when your Rage Bar is full. It ends when Reiatsu is depleted or you release the Y key.
Hollow Era Shikai Mastering
Shikai Mastery increases with Mastery Points (earned by using Shikai). Higher Mastery levels reduce Rage consumption and provide aura effects:
- Level 1 (1-149 Points): Transparent Aura
- Level 2 (150-299 Points): Brighter, particle-filled aura
- Level 3 (300-499 Points): Lightning boost
- Level 4 (500+ Points): Zone of flying stones
Becoming a Visored in the Hollow Era
Reach level 50 to unlock the Vizard path at the Vizard’s Warehouse. Vizards combine Shinigami and Hollow powers. You'll need Hogyoku (1% drop rate from the King of Hueco Mundo boss) to become a Visored.
Hollow Era Visored Mastering
Visored perks include Mask Control (reduces Hollow control) and the Visored node (extends mask usage time, boosting damage).
Visored Abilities in Hollow Era
- Hollow Mask: Activate/deactivate your Hollow mask.
- Cero: Powerful Reiatsu beam.
- Final Cero: Crushing Cero attack from above.
- Vasto Rage: Temporary transformation into a powerful Hollow form.
What About Hollow Era Bankai?
Bankai is currently unavailable but is expected in future updates.
Hollow Era Tips and Tricks
- Use the lock-on button to target enemies.
- Learn to block attacks.
- Invest in the bus teleport.
- Prioritize Strength and Speed skill points early on.
- Use J (default) to reveal markers with your Reiatsu sense.
- Shinigami is less grindy than Hollow.
