Doom a été porté vers tout, des grille-pain aux réfrigérateurs, laissant apparemment peu de place pour des exploits vraiment nouveaux. Cependant, un élève du secondaire a réalisé l'improbable: exécuter DOOM dans un fichier PDF visible dans un navigateur.

Bien que manquant de texte sonore et détaillé, cette version vous permet de jouer E1M1 - parfaite pour la procrastination pendant la saison fiscale!

L'utilisateur de GitHub "Ading2210", inspiré par le projet TETRISPDF, a exploité JavaScript dans le lecteur PDF d'un navigateur pour y parvenir. Les limitations de sécurité du navigateur restreignent le plein potentiel des scripts PDF, mais cela s'est avéré suffisant.

En utilisant les capacités de calcul de JavaScript et une grille ASCII à six couleurs pour les visuels, ADING2210 a créé une version de Doom, bien jouable, bien que lente (80 ms par trame).

Bien qu'il ne remplace pas les consoles modernes, l'accomplissement de l'exécution de Doom dans un fichier PDF est remarquable, surtout compte tenu de sa lisibilité.

Le créateur de TetrispDF, Thomas Rinsma, a commenté Hacker News, louant la version d'Ading2210 pour sa netteté supérieure.

Bien qu'il ne soit pas idéal pour une première expérience de destin, la tendance continue de faire fonctionner le destin sur les plates-formes, les fichiers et même les bactéries inhabituelles reste sans cesse divertissante.
