Ce nouveau vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 Developer Diary présente des images de jeu passionnantes, en se concentrant sur la mécanique du chasseur de vampire. Le jeu intègre fidèlement la Masquerade, un élément central du vampire: l'univers de la mascarade, où les vampires doivent cacher leur vraie nature aux humains.

Un compteur de mascarade suit dynamiquement les actions du joueur, visuellement représentée par une icône des yeux en haut de l'écran. Ce compteur affiche trois niveaux de transgression:

  • Vert: Fauchées mineures; Le simple fait de se cacher suffira.
  • Jaune: Plusieurs infractions, telles que l'alimentation ou l'utilisation de pouvoirs agressifs, nécessitent de manipuler des témoins ou d'éviter l'attention de la police.
  • Rouge: La mascarade est brisée, entraînant une poursuite de la police. La meilleure ligne de conduite est de s'échapper et de se cacher, car la Camarilla interviendra une fois que le compteur sera plein (comme le montre le clip vidéo fourni).

Pour atténuer les conséquences de leurs actions (réduire "l'infamie"), les joueurs peuvent utiliser plusieurs stratégies: faire oublier les témoins, les éliminer ou, dans le cas de la participation de la police, la recherche de refuge et l'attente que la situation se désépare.

Les développeurs soulignent que le risque d'exposition augmentera régulièrement tout au long du jeu, exigeant des actions rapides et calculées des joueurs pour maintenir la mascarade.
