Last year's Switch release of Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince from Square Enix was a delightful surprise. Despite some technical hiccups, its charm and addictive gameplay easily surpassed other Dragon Quest spin-offs on the platform, rivaling the excellent Dragon Quest Builders 2. While a PC port was anticipated, a mobile release came as a pleasant shock. Today, Square Enix announced that the Switch-exclusive title will arrive on iOS, Android, and Steam on September 11th, complete with all previously released DLC, including the Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince Digital Deluxe Edition content. Importantly, the store pages clarify that the online real-time battle mode from the Switch version will be absent in the Steam and mobile versions.
Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince is currently available on Nintendo Switch for $59.99 (standard) and $84.99 (Digital Deluxe). Having thoroughly enjoyed the Switch version, I eagerly anticipate reviewing it on iPhone, iPad, and Steam Deck upon its September 11th launch. This swift mobile porting from Square Enix is a welcome change, especially considering the typical delays seen with other Dragon Quest titles (like Dragon Quest Builders, which took considerably longer to reach mobile). The mobile price is set at $29.99, while the Steam version will cost $39.99. Pre-register now on the iOS App Store and Google Play for Android.
