Holy pizza, they're finally bringing the chaos of Overcooked to reality TV.
This scoop hit Deadline today, revealing that A24 is developing a series for Netflix. Mark this as A24's inaugural foray into unscripted television.
Described as an unscripted format akin to Nailed It! and Floor Is Lava, the show will feature intense kitchen challenges designed to mirror the mayhem found in the beloved video game. Think cooking elaborate meals while perched on the beds of two speeding trucks, or perhaps other culinary catastrophes. We're pretty sure about that.
Currently in its early development phases, the project is being shepherded by Gemma Langford, Oli De-Vine, and Phil Duncan, all key figures from developer Ghost Town Games.
Originally launched in 2016, Overcooked is a cooperative multiplayer experience where up to four players must fulfill customer orders while navigating tricky kitchen hazards. It delivers pure, chaotic fun—a quality we rated an impressive 8.4/10 upon its Nintendo Switch release in 2017. At the time, our reviewer noted, "Overcooked is one of the freshest couch co-op games I’ve ever played. It’s a perfect blend of strategy and chaos, asking you and your teammates to think on your feet as its smart and strange levels do everything they possibly can to make sure you are shouting at each other."
In 2021, the "All You Can Eat" edition arrived, bundling both Overcooked and its sequel, Overcooked 2, along with online multiplayer support and all previously released DLC.
